ST. LOUIS SPORTS COMMISSION SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR
$2,500 SPORTSMANSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

AWARD RECOGNIZES GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR FROM

ST. LOUIS REGION WHO EXEMPLIFIES OUTSTANDING SPORTSMANSHIP

APPLICATION AND NOMINATION FORM NOW AVAILABLE

ST. LOUIS – March 28, 2011 – The St. Louis Sports Commission is now accepting nominations for its annual Sportsmanship Scholarship. Unique to the region, the $2,500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior from the St. Louis metro area who demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship in athletic competition. The scholarship is part of the Sports Commission's ongoing Sportsmanship Initiative and hard work to promote sportsmanship in the community.

The Sportsmanship Scholarship application and nomination form can be obtained online at http://www.stlsportsmanship.org/ or by calling 314-345-5130. Nominations must be received by June 15, 2011. The recipient will be selected by July 15 and recognized at the 2012 National Sportsmanship Awards in St. Louis.

Scholarship candidates should be nominated for exemplifying the ideals and values of sportsmanship: honesty, integrity, selflessness, kindness, compassion and class. While off-field activities and community service are applauded, scholarship candidates will be evaluated primarily for their approach and reputation in competition. Athletic routine (wins and other statistics) are not a factor. Those connected to athletic teams, such as student managers, can also be considered for the scholarship should their leadership and behavior represent an extraordinary standard and model for all in sports to follow.

The Sportsmanship Scholarship was made in 2009 by the St. Louis Sports Commission Associates – a group of area young professionals who volunteer to support the Sports Commission's hard work. The Associates raise funds for the scholarship and select the recipient. Last year, they awarded $2,500 scholarships to Jimmy Myers, a graduate of Westminster Christian Academy, and Megan Wood, a graduate of Washington High School. Both were recognized for the reputation, class, humility and kindness they exhibited as high school student-athletes. Myers was a four-year letterman on the varsity tennis team at Westminster. Wood was a member of the cross country, basketball, soccer, and track and field teams at Washington High School. They will be honored at the 2011 National Sportsmanship Awards in St. Louis on April 30. For more information on the event, visit www.stlsports.org/awards.

The Sports Commission Associates will host their second annual Trivia Night on Aug. 29 to raise funds for the Sportsmanship Scholarship. Their inaugural Trivia Night last year raised more than $8,000 for the scholarship fund. More details on this year's fundraiser will be announced in the coming weeks.

It also questions for confirmation of my FAFSA application. What specific forms should I give them? Or does it theme? I dont feel I need to question them. Could the university part be the actual letter of acceptance that I have yet to recieve – or could it be the letter stating my application was only recieved for review?

I found some info about getting this scholarship online in this scholarship database – colleges.mywebcommunity.org

Do companies really hide institution scholarship applications to avoid awarding them?

Answer by roscoedeadbeat
No, they get huge tax breaks for awarding them, and none for hiding them. They make it hard, because if a person can't figure out the application process, they are doubtless not eligible for the scholarship.

Bursaries are awarded based on demonstrated financial need and are re-calculated each year in response to changing family situation. In exchange for any bursary exceeding $1280 per year, students will be expected to contribute an average of 4 Q-hours per week, or 16 hours per block (less vital bursaries will have pro-rated expectations). Adherence to this standard will ordinarily be assessed once per year for scholarship purposes. In addition, at the end of each block, the tutor will be questioned to assess each student’s contributions to, and benefit derived from, attendance at Quest by answering the simple yes or no question: Was this student an asset to your classroom, contributing positively to the class dynamic and is this student benefiting from the Quest educational experience? Students taking eight courses per year will be vital to have six tutors declare in the affirmative; students taking six blocks (the minimum for full-time status) will need at least four affirmative declarations.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic routine AND evidence of community service, involvement in co-curricular activities, etc. Those wishing to maintain scholarships at Quest must continue to contribute during their time here. These contributions can take many forms. In the spring of each year, each student with a scholarship who wishes to have it renewed will be questioned to submit a small paragraph outlining his or her contributions to Quest over the past year. Examples of such contributions could include:

showing intellectual leadership and evincing academic excellence;
organizing a major event on campus (a play, a CD launch, etc.);
organizing numerous less vital events over the year (lectures, movie screenings, etc.);
leading and/or participating in a campus enhancement project;
contributing positively to a varsity sports team;
working in the Student Representative Council;
volunteering in a community organization in Squamish;
running a club or other activity group.

Evaluation of each student’s report will be conducted by the Scholarship Committee with input from relevant members of the community (coaches, residential staff, student affairs, on-campus employers, etc.). Both academic and non-academic conduct, including assessment of probationary status, residence hurt reports, etc. will be included in the deliberations. While a student is away for study abroad, experiential learning, or language immersion programs, the direct community contribution are, of course, waived.

I would question your scholarship foundation if they have a ordinary form.

If they don't, I would question your advisor what form they would suggest.

Doing a Google search, I find numerous things below

which might help give you some thoughts.

life a jordanian,how or everywhere can i get a full PHD scholarship in engineering in the US?

Answer by geek49203
Jordan. You'd get the scholarship in Jordan. It might be worthwhile to question the financial aid office at the American university everywhere you wish to attend, but I'm not optimistic.

In the past there were various programs between the US government and various additional governments to send students to US colleges. Believe it or not, in the 1970′s there were tons and tons of Iranian students in American colleges. But, those days are gone.

Usually the PhD students finance their education with scholarships and fellowships. That means that they work for the institution as a graduate assistant or teaching assistant to pay for their schooling.

Answer by angelikabertrand64
Look at your Jordanian Educational Department for educational help. Since your'e a Jordanian you better off with their help.

Some examples for financial status affecting your studies:

- Your family are not financially stable, yet you must work to support them and it's affecting your study time and focus.
- You do not have enough money to buy books, computers, etc. Things that you would need to be successful in school.
- You do not have money for school, which is keeping you from vacant to school.

Before you submit the application, remember to have numerous individuals review it for both clairity and grammar. Both can leave a terrible depression if the essay is poorly written. I have included some tips that should further help.

* Share how your future career plans fit into your institution major.
* How the institution scholarship can help you achieve your lifelong and career dreams?
* How can you help others through your institution major and career plans?
* How your community volunteer work influenced you into your major and future plans?
* How your family's past background challenges led to needing help with institution costs?

Brilliant luck!

Whatever you write, make it a sappy one. Make the reader weep…on how life was hard for you growing up…things like that.
