ACK-Media launched 'Amar Chitra Katha Scholarships', in fond memory of Mr. Anant Pai, the founding editor of the series. The Scholarship has been launched on a national extent in 70+ cities and is open to children between the ages of 10-15. The scholarship, which will be an annual event from this year, is unique in two ways – it is calculated to appeal to a broad range of children – not just the rationally sloping. And the awardees will be free to pursue their interests without restrictions. The scholarship is also calculated to increase the awareness of the younger generation about Indian culture, continuing Mr Pai's lifelong mission.
The Amar Chitra Katha Scholarship forms will be available free in all Huge Bazaar supplies across India from July 14th to August 7th, 2011 and online (www.amarchitrakatha.com/scholarships). Participants may also send in their responses via a unique SMS platform made for this initiative. Participation in this scholarship has no restrictions additional than age and nationality. The scholarship evaluation is based on a written quiz on India. The quiz has both multiple choice and long form questions. The quiz will be evaluated by a panel of three eminent judges.
The Amar Chitra Katha Scholarship awardees will be announced in a grand finale on Children's Day, November 14, 2011. The National Winner will get a scholarship of Rs. 11 lakh, there will be 71 City Winners who will each get a scholarship of Rs. 25,000. 144 City Runners-Up will get scholarships worth Rs. 5000 in kind. The initiative is calculated in a way that a child in every participating city has an opportunity to win a Scholarship.
At the launch Samir Patil the CEO of ACK Media said "This is one of the most open and inclusive scholarship designs of its kind and also the one with the largest reach. We are keen on increasing the interest of the next generation in Indian heroes and culture. Without our exclusive tie-up with Huge Bazaar and the months of joint plotting with Ashni and her team we would not have been able to launch the scholarship at this extent"
Ashni Biyani, Director Future Thought said "At Huge Bazaar and the future group we have always looked at how to reach out to children. This is a part of that effort. ACK and BB share common values and we look forward to doing many more of these initiatives over the coming years."
