The Oxford Australia Scholarship Fund was established in the 1990s with donations from Australians who have studied at Oxford and, in fastidious, from Mr James Fairfax AO. Thankfulness to the generosity of the Fund's many supporters it has continued to grow. This has included special fund-raising initiatives from Ancient Members of Magdalen College, University College and Brasenose College to make awards linked to specific colleges.

Am I eligible?
Applicants must be ordinarily resident in Australia and applying for a full-time graduate degree, not including PGCert or PGDip courses, in any theme. Students wishing to take a Second BA may also apply. Applicants must be intending to return to Australia at the end of their studies.

What does it cover?
The value of the scholarship is AUD$12,000 p/a, which will contribute towards living expenses.

Scholarships are often offered to candidates who are awarded a Clarendon Scholarship and these combined awards are worth 100% of university and college fees, and a grant for living costs (the rate in 2010-11 was £13,590).

Awards are made for the full duration of a student's fee liability for the agreed course. If your scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the prolongation of your scholarship each year is theme to an annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.

How do I apply?
Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting Oxford Australia Scholarship Fund in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form.

In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate study by the January deadline (6 January 2012 for Medical Sciences and Philosophy; 20 January 2012 for all additional subjects) and you must have secured a place on your select programme of study by the expected final choice date (17 March 2012). Applications with an outstanding admissions choice after this date, or applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline meadow, are not eligible for scholarship consideration.

You must include a statement with the University's Graduate Application Form describing your reasons for applying for your course of study and the Oxford Australia Scholarship Fund, also include an outline of your future career plans and intentions.

If you do not apply in full by the deadline, you will not be considered for the Scholarship, even if you have selected Oxford Australia Scholarship Fund on the Graduate Application form.

How will I know if I have been successful?
This webpage will be updated to show when all decisions have been made. If you have not heard from us by the time this see is posted, then your application to this scheme has been unsuccessful. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to contact unsuccessful applicants individually or provide feedback on applications.
Second BA applicants

People applying for a second BA must first apply for undergraduate admission to the University through the UCAS system. Please note that the closing date for all UCAS applications is 15 October 2011 and certain courses may require students to register for tests before this.

Once you have been offered a place by your college you may apply to Oxford Australia. This will involve completing the undergraduate scholarship application form and submitting it by 12 noon on Friday 24 February 2012. The form will be available on this webpage once the undergraduate admissions decisions have been announced.

Applicants must include a statement with the application form describing your reasons for applying for this course of study and the Oxford Australia award, also include an outline of your future career plans and intentions.
