The Southern Sunshine Scholarship (SSS) Program

The Southern Sunshine Scholarship (SSS) program is a joint initiative by the ESIT Program Office and the participating finest ESIT Consortium universities. To facilitate international talent mobility, ESIT coordinates scholarship programs such as Vietnam Elite Study in Taiwan (VEST) and Southern Sunshine Scholarship, which are designed for the candidates from Southeast and South Asia region who are interested in coming to Taiwan to pursue their advanced degrees.

The Scholarship:

  1. Academic Programs: English-instructed programs of study in various disciplines (see http://www.esit.org.tw.)
  2. Scholarship offering: Financial support of tuition waiver or up to qualified candidates to study in Taiwan for up to two years for master's and four years for doctoral depending on the program offering ESIT Consortium University.
  3. Foreign language Qualifications: To qualify for the Southern Sunshine Scholarship, the candidate must have minimum English foreign language command of international TOEFL PBT 550 or equivalent when applying for programs instructed in English; or with minimum Chinese foreign language command of Test of Competence-Huayu (TOP) Level 4 certificate when applying for programs instructed in Chinese.
  4. Academic Qualifications: The Southern Sunshine Scholarship candidates must pass the admission review of the applying Consortium university to approve the academic qualifications.

International The upper classes Partnership:

  1. Joining the Program: The international partner institutions/schools must choose to join the Southern Sunshine Scholarship program by sending back the Southern Sunshine Scholarship Partnership Form (available at http://www.esit.org.tw).
  2. Candidate Choice: The international partner institutions should select and encourage faculty/staff and students as candidates to apply for the Southern Sunshine Scholarship program.
  3. Enrollment Terms: The higher education academic calendar system in Taiwan includes 2 terms: Fall semester (September – January) and Spring semester (February to June). Candidates should submit application form before late March for Fall semester admission and late October for Spring semester admission.
