**In order to obtain an application you must complete a Scholarship Question for form (which is located in the Guidance Department). All completed question for forms must be given to Ms. Stanley to ensure prompt receipt.

 

1.     Name of Scholarship:Virginia Daughters of the American Revolution

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a graduating senior. Please see the various scholarships below to obtain specific guidelines:

Virginia DAR Scholarships-you must plot to work toward an undergraduate degree in a meadow additional than nursing and plot to concentrate a Virginia college or university.

American History Scholarship- you must plot to complete a minimum of 24 credit hours in American History or American Government in college and plot to concentrate a Virginia college or university.

Nursing Scholarship- you must plot to continue your education at an accredited Virginia school of nursing.

Deadline:January 16,2012 (on or before)

2 . Name of Scholarship:The Ron Brown Scholarship

 

Eligibility Requirements:The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to the upper classes. Applicants must excel academically,exhibit exceptional leadership potential,participate in community service actions and demonstrate financial need.

Deadlines:The Ron Brown Scholar Program currently has two deadlines for applications (students must be current high school seniors at the time of their application):

November 1st (2011) –application will be considered for the Ron Brown Scholar Program AND forwarded to a select and limited number of additional scholarship providers.

January 9th (2012) –final postmarked deadline in order to be considered for only the Ron Brown Scholar Program ONLY.

3.     Name of Scholarship:Suntrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes

Eligibility Requirements:Applicant must be a high school senior or undergraduate student. You can start applying for this scholarship online on September 16,2011.

Deadline:May 11,2012,you will need to complete an online application at http://www.suntrusteducation.com/sweeps/

4.     Name of Scholarship:AXA Achievement Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:You must be a senior that is active in the community implementing projects that help others and have overcome personal challenges. You must have a cumulative grade top average on a 4.0 scale.

Deadline:December 1,2011 (you must apply for this scholarship online at www.axa-achievement.com)

5.     Name of Scholarship:The Gates Millennium Scholars Program

Eligibility Criteria: You must be an African American,American Indian/Alaska native,Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American;you must be a U. S. citizen;have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale;will enroll in an accredited college or university in the fall of 2012 and have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service,extracurricular or additional actions.

Deadline:You are encouraged to apply online at http://www.gmsp.org/

by January 11,2012 by 11:59 pm EST;paper applications must be post marked by January 11,2012.

8.     Name of the Scholarship:Coca Cola Scholarship Program

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a current high school senior attending school in the United States;be a U. S. citizen;anticipating completion of a high school diploma at the time of application;plotting to pursue a degree at an accredited U. S. post secondary the upper classes and had a minimum GPA of 3.00 at the end of your junior year.

9.       Name of Scholarship:Wisechoice

Eligibility Criteria:Open to all students graduating from high school in 2011-2015 school years.

10.            Name of the Scholarship:'Valley Humanities Review' High School Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a United States high school student. You must submit an essay on a topic surrounded by a humanities meadow (history,literature,philosophy,fine arts,etc..)

11.            Name of the Scholarship:Zinch $20,000 Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a United States high school student with a 2.0 GPA and will graduate from high school in 2011-2014 year.

12.            Name of Scholarship:Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,Inc. (Gamma XI)

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a graduating senior who plans to concentrate college.

Deadline:October 29,2011 (post marked no later than midnight)

13.             Name of the Scholarship:Richmond Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,Inc.

Eligibility Criteria :P articipants must have at least a 2.5 grade top average or better;have a typed resume';ACT/SAT scores (if applicable);three letters of recommendation (school,church,community organizations,or city/county officials) and a brief essay entitled,"Why I Want to Concentrate College." Students that meet the requirements must register at www.infinitescholar.org to print an admissions ticket—please register as soon as possible.

Deadline:Register ASAP;the Scholarship Honest will take place on November 5,2011,from 10:00 am-2:00 pm (you must have an admissions ticket and a portfolio containing the documents listed above—make sure you have several copies).

14.            Name of the Scholarship:University of Virginia

Scholarships with Eligibility Criteria:

Holland Blackburn Scholarship:You must be a graduating senior who has excelled academically;possess leadership skills/qualities and has a potential to supply as a role model. This scholarship is for African American students only. Apply using this link:

University Achievement Award-You must be a graduating senior who has a history of overcoming disadvantages;be a first time generation college student;be a limb of an underrepresented minority or ethnic group;be a limb of a low-income family;reside in a rural or inner-city location and have been raised in a single parent household. (You will automatically be considered for this scholarship if you complete an application for admissions).

Walter N. Ridley Scholarship-You must be an African American student who has excelled academically in school,in the top 20% of your class and have special talents and/or leadership qualities. Link for application:

15.            Name of the Scholarship- U. S. Service Academy Nomination

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a U. S. citizen who is at least 17 years of age and not yet 23 years ancient as of July 1 of the year you enter the academy;you must not be married or pregnant;and you must not hold legal obligation to support children or additional dependants.

Deadline:October 31,2011.

16.             Name of the Scholarship:Wyllie Scholarship (Sweet Brier College)

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a graduating senior who is interested in pursuing a degree in Engineering at Sweet Brier. You must have applied for admissions.

Deadline:February 1,2012

17.             Name of the Scholarship:2012 Horatio Alger Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:You must be enrolled full time as a high school senior,progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer 0f 2012,with a plot to enter a college in the United Sates not later than fall following graduation;have a strong commitment to pursuing and completing a bachelors degree at an accredited the upper classes;have a financial need;involved in co-curricular and community service actions and have a grade top average of 2.0.

18.             Name of Scholarship:Eureka Club Debutante Cotillion

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a graduating senior who has a current grade top average of 2.75.

Deadline:October 28,2011.

19.             Name of the Scholarship:Mensa Education and Research Foundation

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a graduating senior who plans to concentrate a college or university in the Fall of 2012 and you must reside in a zip code area beginning with 233XX -237XXX.

Deadline:January 15,2012 (post mark date)

20.             Name of the Scholarship :D ominion Essay Contest

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a junior or senior.

21.             Name of the Scholarship:Lincoln Lane Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a graduating senior who is a current resident of the Tidewater area—Norfolk,Virginia Beach,Chesapeake,Portsmouth,Suffolk,etc. and you must be a United States citizen. 22.             Name of the Scholarship:  Harry F. Bryd,Jr.

Eligibility Criteria:You must be a graduating senior who demonstrates academic achievement;have an brilliant character,possess leadership skills and excellent residency.
