Application Criteria

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION/CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

Individuals who wish to apply for a grant must fill out the Scholarship/ Financial Aid Questionnaire and submit it, along with the other requirements, to the Office of Scholarships. To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. intellectual ability and proven academic competence;
2. need for financial support as evidenced by income tax returns or affidavits of income;
3. commitment to service in school and community activities; and
4. the potential for greater service in the future.

Properly and completely filled-out Scholarship/Financial Aid Questionnaire must be submitted to the Office of Scholarships along with

1. a detailed personal proclamation about the need for a scholarship grant;
2. detailed sketch of residence; and clear copies of
3. high school card,
4. latest income tax returns or affidavit of income of parents,
5. ATCU lobby test results.
6. Recommendation letter from the parish priest (for catholics), Imam (for muslims) and pastor (for non-catholics).

Grade Requirements

1. Grade requirements should be strictly maintained. Scholars are given three chances to make up for poor academic routine in the finals. Those who fail to meet the grade requirement for the first time will get a PROBATIONARY STATUS; a WARNING STATUS for the second time; and a LAST WARNING STATUS for the third and last time. Scholars who get a final grade of 74% or below may be removed from their scholarship without any probation or warning.

2. A student whose scholarship has been terminated or who has been unable to end his/her degree program within the specified period (four being for all other courses except BS Computer Engineering, BS Electronics and Communication Engineering and BS Accountancy which is a five-year program) will have to reapply for a scholarship. The said student is subject to the same procedure as a new applicant.

3. The grade requirements are as follows:

* No grade below 85% in all subjects enrolled, in any given semester. This is for all UNIVERSITY (Ateneo-funded) and PRIVATE scholarships with a coverage of at least 100% schooling or its equivalent quantity.
* No grade below 83% in all subjects enrolled, in any given semester. This is for all UNIVERSITY (Ateneo-funded) and PRIVATE scholarships with a coverage of at least 50% schooling or its equivalent quantity.
* No grade below 75% in all subjects enrolled in any given semester and at WPA of 80%. This is for STUDENT ASSISTANTSHIP scholarships.

Procedure for Application

1. Incoming freshmen and transferees may buy scholarship application forms at the Office of Scholarships or download a form from this site. For students already enrolled in the university, a copy of their final grades for the semester must be submitted.
2. Applicants must submit duly filled out application form along with other requirements as soon as possible:
* A detailed personal statements about the need for a scholarship grant / financial aid for your son / daughter / ward.
* A clear copy of lobby test result (ATCU)
* A copy of the most recent INCOME TAX RETURNS (of applicant's parents or guardian).
* A copy of the applicant's high school card.
* A letter of recommendation from an Imam ( for Muslims), Pastor (for Non-Catholics), and the Parish Priest ( for Catholics )
* A detailed sketch of the applicant's residence (complete with house digit, street and other landmarks).

Shared application forms will not be processed.

3. Applicants may be given a schedule for interview. An applicant who does not appear for the interview will have to secure another appointment.

Enrollment forms for successful applicants

1. Scholarship enrollment forms will only be given out during enrollment period and must be secured by the scholars themselves. Other people (e.g. parents, friends, siblings) enrolling for the scholar must present a letter of authorization.
2. Failure to secure a scholarship form during the designated period (only during enrollment period as specified by the College Registrar) will mean forfeiture of the privileges loved for the semester.
3. A scholar is held responsible for the loss, mutilation/destruction of his/her scholarship form. In cases like these, a scholar must file for an affidavit of loss and present it to the Office for him/her to secure a replacement.
4. Government scholarships (e.g. NSP, RSP, SSP, SNPLP, etc) are coursed through the Office. Students who avail of such grants must present their letter of award and other pertinent documents during the enrollment period or as soon as possible. For them to delight in the privileges, government scholars are vital to fill-up scholarship forms each semester. The Finance Office will only honor government scholarship grants upon the recommendation or approval of the Office of Scholarships
